There is an element of surprise in botanical printing. The resulting image is a collaboration, partially the artist’s intent but more importantly what the foliage decides to share. A leaf may give different results in each season. One tree’s leaves can print differently than its neighbor even when they are the same species. The lifespan of a blossom or leaf is short but its printed image can endure. The impression made is a gift from nature.
I enhance the prints with fabric and stitch adds. Stitching the detail of the foliage emphasizes individuality of each leaf or blossom.
